Completely Geeking Out on #Typography – A Short Documentary

You may not have heard of them but there’s no doubt you’ve seen their work. Jonathan Hoefler or Tobias Frere-Jones have been creating typefaces for 25 years. They are the best type foundry in the country. They’ve created faces for The Wall Street Journal, Esquire, Nike, Wired, HP and The New York Times, to name a few. I can go on and on. Anyway I was psyched to come across this documentary on their company and process. It’s fantastic.

Side note: While tracking down background information on what’s now known as Hoefler & Co., I came across this article on The Verge. Apparently in January of this year Jonathan Hoefler or Tobias Frere-Jones entered into a $20 million dollar court battle over the legality of their partnership. Sad. I had no idea.
